All of our food tastings are paired with hand-crafted nonalcohol beverages and spirit-free cocktails. Due to provincial regulations, we are currently unable to include alcohol in our price.
The Alberta Liquor and Gaming Commission sees that as “reselling.” Only a business with a physical venue and license can sell liquor under their own license. This legislation dates back to prohibition. We were always very responsible “pro-serve” smart hosts when we did include small tastings of alcohol. We’ve submitted a case to the Alberta Red Tape Commission in hopes of seeing a change in regulation that is progressive and reflective and supportive of today’s burgeoning craft alcohol and hospitality entrepreneurs in Alberta.
Important caveats to our not serving alcohol on tours are as follows:
1 – On some of our tours, key partners will offer a specific alcohol pairing at an exclusive price that we’ve negotiated for our guests. This is payable by the guest directly to that vendor.
2 – We are allowed to include alcohol samples at vendors licensed to provide them – like liquor stores and farmers’ market kiosks.
3 – We can also include alcohol on private tours by facilitating payment directly to the vendors from the client ahead of time. We strive to have your experience as seamless as possible.
In summary, our partners have raised the bar for the hand-crafted non-alcohol beverages and spirit-free cocktails they provide. We are a food tour company and the beverages we provide are great examples of culinary creativity. We continue to pay all of our partners the same amount we always did so our prices have not changed. Our partners rose to meet the challenge and we are proud of the food and beverage pairings on our tours.

We absolutely do. We can accommodate a variety of special requests (family reunions, birthday parties, out of town guests, wedding events, corporate entertaining, outings and team building, conventions activities and spousal offerings, festivals, parades, grand openings and more).

Absolutely not. Our tours combine architectural commentary, historical facts, local culture and culinary insight into a unique 3-hour experience. Imagine walking through the city eating our local artisan’s most delicious foods while learning about the neighbourhoods from real locals.

You should bring a camera and a reusable bottle of water, if you are a person that gets thirsty easily. When it’s really hot out, we recommend an application of sunscreen on exposed parts of the body and a lightweight pair of sunglasses. During the cooler seasons it’s important to wear an extra layer of clothing and consider bringing mitts and a toque (that’s Canadian for a warm wooly hat). If it looks like rain bring an umbrella. We want you to be comfortable so you can concentrate on having fun and enjoying the experience.

Please be sure to let us know if you (or anyone in your group) has a dietary restrictions (e.g. if you are vegetarian, have celiac disease or severe food allergies) This is one of the questions you must fill in before you can purchase your tickets.  As long as we know in advance, we can usually accommodate your needs.

Our guide is also a travel writer. She easily blended in local lore. All the food and drink samples (which included delicious lunch at Rouge) were excellent. We also enjoyed visits to a knife shop, spice shop, and First Nations art shop. The walking was very reasonable. Thanks for a memorable day!
