Alberta’s Best Cooking Classes

As September approaches, it’s back to school for the kids. So, why not head to one of Alberta’s Best Cooking Classes yourself? From Lethbridge to Edmonton, here’s our list of the best.

Lethbridge

 

The Umami Shop – from dumplings and Pad Thai to Italian and Spanish, this store not only sells grocery items from around the world, they give hands-on instruction of what to do with those ingredients.

 

Calgary

 

The Cookbook Co Cooks – celebrating over 40 years in business, owner Gail Norton also leads culinary excursions to France and Italy annually. 

 

By Ollia Macarons and Tea – in both Calgary and Edmonton, you can learn to make Macaron with owner David.

 

Lemon and Ladle – noted culinary teacher, Barbara Sheldon, teaches small groups in this cozy kitchen in Marda Loop. From soups to pasta and everything in between.

 

Red Deer Area

 

The Jungle Farm – watch for their “Field to Jar Jam-Making” classes each August.

 

The Cooking Room – private and corporate classes along with a schedule of public classes 

 

Edmonton

 

Get Cooking – Owner Kathryn Joel is a graduate of London’s Le Cordon Bleu and Leith’s School of Food and Wine. She has a great roster of local chefs teaching a wide variety of classes in a beautiful space.

 

Awn Kitchen Owner Kaelin Wittaker attended  Ballymaloe Cookery School in Ireland. If you want to learn to make sourdough, she’s the expert!
