Cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, and fries; text reads: '10 Alberta Burgers To Eat This Summer'.

Our roundup of the best burgers in Alberta is here just in time for patio season! Is there anything better than a great burger, a cold beer, and Alberta sunshine? Here are 10 spots across the province serving up some of the best burgers around.

  1. Class Clown Burgers – You’d be hard-pressed to find a YYC burger that comes more highly recommended than Class Clown, and it’s for a good reason. Its burgers are made from a blend of pasture-raised Alberta chuck and brisket, then smashed to perfection on the grill.
  2. Lil’ Empire Burger – With four locations in Calgary, Lil’ Empire is a must-visit for burger lovers. Made with house-ground Alberta beef patties, each burger is topped with its special burger sauce, pickles, cheese, fried onions, and lettuce.
  3. Small Bar Bridgeland – Our favourite spot in Calgary’s Bridgeland neighbourhood is this hidden gem. At Small Bar, chef Kevin Turner makes a double smash burger made from 100 percent dry-aged Angus chuck from Fire River Farms,
  4. The Next Act – Serving Edmonton’s Strathcona for over 25 years, their award-winning burgers are best enjoyed with one of the many craft beers on top. Sister Restaurant MEAT can be found on our  Savour Strathcona food tour every month.
  5. Fox Burger – Some of the best smash burgers in Edmonton are here. One of their top sellers is a Bacon Pepper Smash burger that goes best with a local beer.
  6. The Sugarbowl – Serving Edmonton’s University and Garneau districts since 1943, this popular bistro serves no-frills burgers with quality local meat and vegetables.
  7. The Westwood – This little Black Diamond diner is always full of patrons enjoying a variety of classic and original-flavour burgers. Do not sleep on the ‘burger of the day’ because they always hit it out of the park.
  8. Cilantro and Chive – With two locations in Red Deer and Lacombe, this family-owned and operated restaurant serves outstanding hand-helds with flavour to match. Our favourite, the Smash Burger, is two Triple AAA Alberta beef patties with the works.
  9. Blake Brewhouse & Distillery – The iconic Mechanic Burger is our go-to in Canmore.  It is made with a signature charcoal bun and premium Alberta beef patties that you won’t want to miss.
  10. Park Distillery – There are two standout burgers on the menu at this Banff Main Street eatery.  The signature Bison Burger and the classic Benchmark Angus Park Burger.  We love their bison burger, made with a blend of bison and beef. It features unique toppings like double-smoked bacon, melted Swiss, crispy onions, and a tangy blueberry aioli, all served on a potato scallion bun. YUM!
